Revinetix announces an enhancement to its Volo desktop data protection appliance that helps small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) conserve energy and reduce operating expenses. The improved Volo incorporates the new Atom processor from Intel which results in a 14% energy conservation over the previous version of the Volo.
“Energy conservation is of great importance to both our company culture and product development strategy,” said Lou Banks, Revinetix Product Manager. “The Volo is our latest green technology that supports our vision to create new power efficient hardware and software to help SMBs & SMEs with their efforts to further reduce their carbon footprint and protect our environment.”
With businesses facing soaring energy prices in a tight economy, the Volo data protection appliance delivers a smart power-saving strategy. It delivers high-performance data backup and requires minimal energy to operate. The Volo consumes just 60 watts of electricity, around 525 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year.
Further enhancing its efficiency, the appliance is powered by the Revinetix operating system RevOS with de-duplication that can reduce data storage by an average of 10 percent. The de-duplication functionality within RevOS identifies duplicate copies of data, records where the data is stored and triggers the network-attached backup appliance to store only a single copy of a file.
Additionally, the Volo provides space savings to businesses with the following:
• Small footprint – measures only 8.9” x 7.9” x 13” and fits on a desktop.
• High-capacity hard drives – that allow more data storage in a fixed footprint.
• USB port - for data archive for more efficient data management.
Ideally suited for remote offices, the Volo is available in two configurations:
