Dec. 12, 2008 - PRLog -- The State of the Chamber is a largely anticipated event that brings together local business and community leaders to assess the previous year and to share what is on the horizon for 2009. Representation from each of the municipalities in Southern Ocean County has been invited to speak along with Ocean County Freeholders.The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce  Executive Director Rick Reynolds will recap the many new initiatives created in 2008 which included the contracting of a new state of the art website, targeted marketing efforts, and promotions to introduce the region to a wider tourism base.

This year, with everyone’s eye on the economy, the chamber has requested Joel Naroff to return and address the membership on his perspective of recent developments. An accomplished public speaker, Joel's humor and unique ability to make economics understandable have drawn an international following. Joel has consistently impressed his peers; this year he was awarded the Lawrence Klein Award for Blue Chip forecasting excellence and was the Bloomberg Business News 2008 top economic forecaster. In 2007, he received the National Association of Business Economists Outlook Award as the top economic forecaster. In 2006, he was named the top economic forecaster by MSNBC. On a consulting basis, Joel serves as Chief Economist for TD Bank in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Portland, Maine. He is the economic consultant for Cumberland Advisors, a personal service, money management firm headquartered in New Jersey and an economic advisor to Trefoil Properties and Spectrum Alliance. He consults with banks on asset/liability, corporations on economic risk and opportunities and is an economic and financial advisor to state and local governments.

The Fifth Annual State of the Chamber will take place January 14 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Sea Oaks Golf Club, Little Egg Harbor. $25 fee for SOCCC members and $35 fee for non members.
