Assisted living facilities a great opportunity in USA- Jerry Cedicci, RObin Trehan
Assisted living facilities provide places for the elderly population to live on their own, with just a minimum of help. As the Baby Boomer generation reaches retirement age, the United States is seeing a majority of its population need some type of care. Many of these individuals do not want to live with family members and do not need the intensive monitoring provided by nursing homes. Assisted living facilities fill that gap by allowing these individuals to remain independent.
Now is the ideal time to look toward this area for opportunity. Over the next twenty years, more of the United States population will be entering the age category that sees them needing some type of care in order to remain independent. It is predicted that this population will have doubled by the year 2030. Some of the areas that will experience growth along with this increase are the need for better facilities, health care services and equipment and security equipment.
Assisted living facilities run the range from single dwellings to high-rise apartment buildings. The current distressed housing market makes it possible for developers to purchase properties at pennies on the dollar. These can often be ready for occupation with very little work, further decreasing the initial cash outlay. Assisted care facilities are needed in every area, as the elderly like to remain in the general area they are now residing, near family and friends. This removes many of the limits faced by other types of facilities, which are often restricted in the areas where they can run. Setting up and running an assisted care facility that is clean, efficient and in the ideal location will make it more likely to be a profitable venture.
Medical supply businesses work closely with assisted living facilities. The elderly need things that can aid their independence such as canes, walkers, tub and toilet bars. As more people age, items of specific need to the elderly population will be required. Assisted care facilities, their purpose being to aid the elderly in achieving as independent lifestyle as possible, will often include such items in the cost of care. If they are not included, giving the residents an opportunity to acquire the medical items needed with little or no trouble will add to the value of the facility.
Residents of assisted care facilities need some help. With this being the case, they need some type of monitoring system around the clock set up. The most necessary is a system by which an individual can call for and receive help immediately should they fall or suffer another type of illness. Call buttons, security systems to keep intruders out and other necessary security will be required in greater numbers as the elderly population increases. This is another area related to assisted care that is worth entering into at this time.
As more improvements are made in the field of medicine, people are living longer. Those born during the largest population explosion in the United States are reaching the age when they can no longer live completely independent, do not want to or can’t live with family members and are not ill or weak enough to need the intensive care provided in a nursing home. Assisted care facilities are consistently arising to meet this gap in available care. Anyone entering into this arena now will realize gains for years to come.
