Conor Murphy of Lake Forest competed at the 2008 Pan American Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dec. 2 – 7 and won first place in the men’s 15-16 year tumbling division.
“Competing at the Pan American Championships as a second season elite level athlete was a great honor and experience for Conor,” said T&T Director Danita Barnard. “This was his second international competition, so to advance to the finals in all three events was great but placing and winning medals in two of the events was phenomenal!”
Murphy is one of five athletes representing the USA Junior Age Group Team along with twelve USA Sr. National Team members. He was one of two athletes in the entire USA delegation who competed and qualified to finals in all three events—Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline and Tumbling. He was also a member of the USA delegation at last year’s World Age Group Championships in Quebec where he ranked 17th on tumbling in the men’s 15-16 year division.
Murphy placed 3rd on Double Mini, 8th on Trampoline and won gold in the Men’s 15-16-year tumbling competition. He is currently a Team OC level Elite Tumbling and Trampoline team member.
