By: ARISE Foundation The ARISE CHOICES: Drop It At The Door training program has been extremely successful in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, where it has been conducted in various residential facilities. ARISE has also expanded its CHOICES program to include other government agencies such as police, corrections and probations departments that require employees to confront difficult and often dangerous situations on a daily basis. Since 1986, ARISE has developed and implemented distinctive Life Management Skills curricula and staff training programs. ARISE continually updates its material, giving it a fresh look and the latest statistics. Designed originally to reach at-risk, incarcerated youth in detention centers and secure facilities, ARISE is also utilized as a powerful prevention tool for teenagers and young adults. Since ARISE was established, the organization has trained and certified over 5,000 instructors who have taught over 4,000,000 documented hours of ARISE life skills lessons in Florida alone. ARISE programs are interactive group discussions and activities designed to break the ice quickly and get even the most reserved participants engaged and involved. ARISE is particularly appropriate for youth with special requirements such as limited reading and/or writing ability. It has been successfully used in the Miami-Dade School System and Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and over 100 organizations in the Disctrict of Columbia, including Washington DC schools, the D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services and the District of Columbia jail and D.C. Superior Court Probation Officers. ARISE is also being used in Canada, Jamaica, England, Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda, New Zealand, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Bosnia, Kazakhstan, Central Asia and The Kingdom of Bahrain. The ARISE curricula is presently being translated into Kazakh and Russian for use with orphans. For more information, please visit ariselife-skills.org. End
