Fighting has broken out once again in eastern Congo and the region threatens to slip into all-out war.

The Panzi Hospital in Bukavu provides a safe haven for Congolese women who are the victims of war crimes and displacement. Often, women and children with serious injuries walk for days to receive the free shelter and reconstructive surgeries offered by the Panzi Hospital. No woman is safe from the atrocities ravaging the country; doctors have treated those as old as 70 and as young as 3.
