Gone are the times in which communities banded together to help those in need. We often see groups with a specific cause rise up to combat a specific challenge, but what happens to all those who need little or simple things? What happens to the elderly who can’t rake their lawn or the mother who can’t afford daycare this week? www.listfullofhope.com has just launched its beta version website in New Haven to help answer these questions. www.listfullofhope.com is a classified style website that allows members of the community to post for and request the things for which they may need, no matter how big or small. At the same time, the site allows for members in the community to browse these posts with the intention of aiding their neighbors for free. Also, local University based chapters are being put together with the intention of aiding this site. By providing not only the community a means to help others, but by having a dedicated group that may fundraise the hopes of many will be answered.

Over the past few months, a few close colleges and I have begun bringing to life something that has been brewing in our hearts for some time now. On Friday Nov. 9th, we launched the beta version of www.listfullofhope.com, but more importantly we set in motion what is sure to change or at least touch the lives of many. We all hear the stories of people who at the moment can't afford proper clothes for their kids, to fix their roof, or cover their medical expenses. While this saddens us, we sometimes get to see the goodness left in our world. We see people who rise up with the intention of lending their goods, time, and money to help those in need. What if it was possible to inspire this generosity on a wider scale? What if we could bring communities that have no common connection together? What if your neighbor became more than a neighbor, but a person who was active in your life and those of others? This has lead us to create www.listfullofhope.com
This site will eventually become a classifieds style site with the intention of bringing those in need together with those who are able to provide. This project, however, will expand outside of the virtual realm and into physical groups of people willing to bring that old world helping community feel to every place in the world. This will be achieved primarily through www.listfullofhope.com Here people can post asking for the things they need. Then those in the community can browse these posts and help their neighbors by providing them with the things requested. This method will work perfectly for all the small things people may ask for such as a coat, because it is very likely that somebody in the community will have a coat to give. For larger items or monetary needs, what makes up the foundation of www.listfullofhope.com must shine. For each city listed, a university or college chapter will be created. It will become their responsibility to help fundraise and provide the items that the members of the community do not have or can not afford.
Overall, List Full of Hope is a new and ever growing organization seeking to change lives and build communities. New Haven has been chosen as List Full of Hope’s launch city and is directly affecting the lives of Yalies and those of New Haven. This organization seeks to become a non-profit so it can gain an even broader reach, but before this can ever happen the word of its existence must spread and the communities intended for its use must be made aware. www.listfullofhope.com urges everyone to answer one simple question, “Have you helped anyone today?”
