Hilary Gushwa, Miss CA Intl 2009, with Students from Bubbling Wells Elementary
When Miss California International 2009, Hilary Gushwa, visited Bubbling Wells Elementary on December 5th, 2008, she spent about 30 minutes in each classroom. That time was spent encouraging the students not to give up on their dreams and the importance of community service. At the end of each session, Hilary also answered students questions. When she was asked what her favorite questions of the day were she answered, “Are you proud of yourself?” and “Do you have a professional makeup artist?”.
The monthly assembly was held that same day, so Hilary assisted in handing out various certificates, including honor roll, attendance, and student of the month.
Bubbling Wells Elementary School is located just south of the city limits of Desert Hot Springs. As one of the fifteen elementary schools in the Palm Springs Unified School District, Bubbling Wells serves approximately 780 students in grades kindergarten through five.
