The Swinden Group Advises on Business Impacting Winter Storm for the Northeast and New England.

The Swinden Group is advising clients of potential business impacting winter storm for the Northeast / New England region Thursday and Friday.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 10, 2008 -
EVERGREEN, Co — The Swinden Group’s Weather Risk Management service is advising clients and travelers in and around the Northeast and New England to prepare for a developing winter storm that may impact travel and businesses in the region Thursday and Friday.

A low pressure system will develop in the southeastern U.S. Wednesday night and track northeast Thursday to the Mid-Atlantic region, then by Thursday night across, or just east of New England - eventually into southeastern Canada Friday. The low pressure will rapidly strengthen as it tracks northeast and draws in moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and Gulf Stream.

This storm system will bring rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow to the region.  While it is early to pinpoint an exact track for the storm system, it is important for all interests to stay updated with the latest weather information through Thursday. Whatever regions do get impacted with the snow, freezing rain and sleet, there will likely be enough precipitation to have a major impact on travel and potentially damage trees and power lines. Thus the main threat from this storm will be hazardous winter driving conditions, power outages, and travel delays / cancellations for both ground and air.  Start formulating a “Plan B” if travel plans include the Northeast US.

The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watches from eastern Pennsylvania up through Maine.  Expect additional watches to be issued.  Many of these watches will be upgraded to Winter Storm Warnings or downgraded to Winter Weather Advisories as the storm progresses.
