Two Niagara writers have put their love for everything equestrian into creating the new online magazine, Cinch, premiering January 2009. The magazine's home site at www.cinchmagazine.com is the highlight of their efforts at the moment- featuring all up to date articles and results for equestrian sports. Articles on health, training, riding and horse management can also be viewed at cinchmagazine.com where an interactive discussion board connects readers of varying viewpoints.
In the beginning, the two writers hosted a website titled The Critter Shak on a Geocities site. When the idea of a full-fledged e-magazine became more than just possible, the website needed some spicing up. Switching to a domain name and redesigning every inch of the website, the launch pad for the all-new Cinch Magazine was set with an increased number of viewers and subscribers connecting continually.
The grand protégé of their website will come January 2009 in the form of Cinch Magazine's premier edition. The quarterly e-magazine will be delivered free of charge to subscriber's inbox once each season providing readers with unbiased articles viable to the equestrian world. Both English and Western riders will find articles to peak their interests, while kids and adults alike can enjoy what Cinch Magazine has to offer.
"We like to think of ourselves as a specialized magazine for the every-day-equestrian. We want to appeal to the masses of horse lovers that have one thing in common- they want to ensure their horses with a great life," says assistant editor of Cinch Magazine, J. L. Orchard.
Cinch Magazine has a lot to offer. In each issue Cinch will spotlight some lesser known equine breeds. "We have the Standardbred and Haflinger horse set up for the first two issues but readers should keep their eyes open for some rare finds later on," Orchard explains. The Cinch website offers free classified ads for people wishing to sell/buy horses, tack or other equipment. Advertising on the web page or in the magazine is very affordable, yet it still offers considerable coverage. Cinch Magazine isn't out there to make money. "We want to connect horse people, share ideas, and give coverage to some of those less noticed corners of the horse industry." Orchard finishes, "We're here for the horse people."
The magazine hasn't wasted any time advertising their site web wide and locally and is appreciative of the feedback they've received. "We've gained support from many great individuals, equestrian associations, veterinarians and breeders in the form of advertising, photography and research for articles. I just have to hand it to them. They've been a great help," Orchard says.
Cinch is also eager to hear from readers and tries their best to meet the requests of readers. "Due to popular demand Cinch Magazine will feature an article on finding the proper bit for your horse. A lot of people become frustrated with all the different options when trying to find the right bit. We want to cover what you (the readers) want to read." Orchard goes on to say, "We want to be able to serve the horse community better. By going to our website readers can comment to Cinch through our polls. This allows us to determine what our readers want from Cinch Magazine."
Cinch Magazine welcomes writers to submit their horse based articles for publication on either the Cinch website or in the e-magazine. Cinch also accepts photographs in the form of a j-peg image. Cinch is also looking for writers to cover what they hope to turn into an issue by issue segment titled, 'Debate the Horse'. This segment will have two opposing sides explain their views on issues such as horseracing, bit vs. bitless, and so on, giving readers a broader and deeper understanding of some hot issues in today's equestrian world.
Cinch also understands that equestrians have a natural desire to show off their horses. "We've had a few people submit articles and photographs,"
On the website, horse-lovers will also find a Horse of the Month feature where they can share what's special about their horse in a brief article and photo.
Whatever your interest in the world of horses, there is something for everyone when it comes to Cinch Magazine. To receive your free subscription to Cinch Magazine please go to www.cinchmagazine.com, share your views at the discussion board, or leave your comments at the polls. The site is continually being updated, so be sure to add this it to your list of favorites and check back regularly.
