PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 05, 2008 -
Geek Internet Development, in the interest of helping save the environment, has started the Geek Ultimate Recycling Program or GURP. "Of the 2.25 million tons of TVs, cell phones and computer products ready for end-of-life (EOL) management, 18% (414,000 tons) was collected for recycling and 82% (1.84 million tons) was disposed of, primarily in landfills." (Source: Environmental Protection Agency). Glenn Gregorec, a partner in Geek Internet Development, says, "I have long been looking for a way to put all of the old equipment we have been collecting from clients to good use. While a portion can be repaired and donated to foster children, the majority was in the past just parts taking up space." He continues, "Now we have a program that not only can help the environment, but also the foster children of Southern Nevada." When ask why the name 'GURP' was chosen Glenn replied, "For the longest time all of our projects have been called 'Geek Ultimate' projects. We decided that we would carry that over when we started Geek Internet Development."

The first GURP recycling drive has been scheduled for December 20th and 21st 2008 in the Renaissance Center East on the corner of Tropicana & Eastern, Las Vegas, Nevada. "We are excited about this first drive," explains Karen Gregorec, the senior partner of Geek Internet Development, "Not only are we going to help the environment, we also get to assist the foster children who need so much during these tough economic times." Geek Internet Development has partnered with Agape Children's Services and during the drive will also be accepting clothes, toys, and shoes on behalf of the foster children. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds of the GURP drive will go to Agape Children's Services to assist the foster children. "We have been rebuilding old computers that our clients donated for the foster kids for years, now we get to help even more. It gives me great satisfaction that we can provide for those in need." states Karen.

The Geek Ultimate Recycling Program is designed to help save the world, a little bit at a time.
