Dec. 3, 2008 - PRLog -- MIAMI, Florida – If you could use a break right now, your “ship has come in,” literally. Five “brand new” cruise ships, representing an additional 14,764 available berths, have recently arrived at Ft Lauderdale, Florida to begin their winter/ spring Caribbean season. “The increase in available ships in the Caribbean will decrease pricing, including the holidays, which means extraordinary value for consumers,” says Stewart Chiron, cruise industry expert and president of Cruiseguy.com.

Cruise ships sailing to the Caribbean have been significantly upgraded, especially with the recent introduction of Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Solstice, the first “original ship” introduced in seven years. The Mexican Riviera is also receiving upgrades as Royal Caribbean is repositioning Mariner of the Seas, which will be the largest cruise ship to regularly sail from the West Coast beginning in February, 2009. Carnival Cruise Lines is sending their newest and largest ship, Carnival Splendor, to Los Angeles in April, 2009.

With the holidays less than 30 days away, you’d normally think a last minute holiday cruise would be out-of-the-question, but not this year. “The most substantial cruise discounts on Christmas and New Year’s sailings in over 20 years are now available. Current pricing and availability, so close to sailing for holiday cruises is unheard of,” says Chiron.

Current Christmas and New Year’s 7-night Caribbean cruise offers include:

Carnival Cruise Lines “brand new” Carnival Splendor from $499 PP
Celebrity’s “brand new” Celebrity Solstice from $999 PP
NCL’s Norwegian Pearl from $499 PP
Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas or Freedom of the Seas from $749 PP
Largest Cruise Ships in the World!
Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas from $699 PP

Because of current global economic conditions and the general feeling of uncertainty, passengers are booking closer to sailing on cruises departing over the next few months. But the cruise lines are holding the line on pricing for 2009 sailings. “People considering European cruises for March, April and May, 2009 should book now as current offers may include reduced cruise fares, free or reduced airfares along with cabin upgrades,“ recommends Chiron.
