Eyeworks of Decatur is pleased to announce Dr. Mark Hegetschweiler joining its staff as Chief Optometric Physician. Dr. Hegetschweiler brings more than 20 years experience to the table and specializes in not only eye exams but glaucoma, cataract and retinal evaluations as well as foreign body removal from the eye. “ I am so excited Dr. H will be at this location. The store is beautiful and I will travel to get his care!” said patient Andrea Stein.
Dr. Hegetschweiler received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of South Florida in 1981. He attended University of Houston College of Optometry where he was involved in the student council and served as President of the freshman class. He graduated in 1986 with a Doctor of Optometry degree. He has been honored with the WESSLEY JESSEN award for "Innovation in Contact Lens Care."
Dr. Hegetschweiler at one time joined the movement of corporate optometry, but became frustrated with what he felt was poor product quality provided to his patients. It was then when he decided to return to the personal optical business, where patient care and quality service go hand in hand.
