Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio, Italy, has been awarded its first Michelin star. The hotel’s restaurant, Il Piccolo Principe, serves a variety of seafood and meat dishes with traditional Italian influences.
Among Il Piccolo Principe’s specialties are “Calamarata di Gragnano”, a dish made with a variety of fresh seafood, asparagus and traditional Paccheri di Gragnano pasta. The signature dessert is the “King of Havana” - a chocolate and coffee waffle cigar filled with chocolate and served with vanilla sauce and a glass of rum. The restaurant also boasts an impressive menu of over 700 different wines.
Considered one of the leading authorities of European gastronomy, Michelin stars recognise restaurants offering the finest cooking regardless of cuisine style. The star rating indicates “a very good restaurant in its category” based on five criteria: the quality of the products, the mastery of flavour and cooking, the “personality”
