Dec. 3, 2008 - PRLog -- If you are looking to perform a free public records search, then there are a few things you should understand.  First thing is to know if you can actually perform a free check to find information and if we can, then why do people pay for these checks.

If you are looking for this information, you could very well be part of the HR department of an organization or working in an investigation company.

There are some places where free public records checks can be conducted.

Public agencies like the county sheriff’s department, police department, vital statistics agencies and courts are places where you can run free searches.  All you got to do is request in writing giving an explanation of why you need to search.  You must know that is not a quick solution as it may take a few days or sometimes even a month before they accept and give permission.

There are other places like schools, libraries, churches and the city council where they hold a huge amount of information.  You will find information only on the locals of that area.  Here also, you should be prepared to go through hundreds of files to be able to find what you need.  There may also be microfilms that you have to watch.

The third place to perform public records searches are the online websites.  There are many websites that maintain huge online databases where they store all the information.  They charge a small fee because they make sure these databases are kept updated with the latest information.

Yes free public records searches do provide the information you need but they take time and effort.  If you have the time and willing to put in the effort, you can always go for them.
