For nobody it is a secret any more, that social networks have conquered the Internet - about 90 percent of web users are users of any social network. The Runet (Russian speaking share of internet ) does not concede to the western segment of the Internet by the amount of available social networks. Feature of the Runet is the swift growth of specialized social networks of a military orientation is observed.
In general search of brother-soldiers, military buddies can be carried out in practically any wide-profile social network, e.g. the two largest: Odnoklassniki.ru ("Classmates")
Doing a quick analysis of US based social networks, it should be mentioned that search of army buddies and brother-soldiers can be done as in networks of general profile,e.g. Classmates.com, and in military community networks. But the fact remains the fact, the Runet has confidently outnumbered American social networks for the military community taking into account that American networks appeared much earlier and later the trend spread with a few year lag in the Runet. Simple search queries showed only two social networks for the US military: service of portal Military.com, placed on various domains and site MilitaryConnections.com. In comparison to those in the Runet, American military social networks possess very useful opportunity - integration of services of various preferential educational progrmas for the military and members of their families, veterans and so forth. Despite the absence of similar services in Runet's networks that is primarily linked with the economic situation in the former USSR republics, there is hope that they will evolve and quantity will transform into quality.
