Portland, OR- Topanien Gifts will host the Harambee Benefit and Holiday Party with an in-store celebration featuring World Beat holiday music, free gifts, treats and champagne (Friday evening) to raise awareness and funds for the Harambee Centre in Portland. The benefit will be held on Friday, December 5, from 6-9pm and Saturday, December 6, from 10-6pm. The event is free and open to the public. The global gifts retailer will be donating a portion of their sales during those times to the non-profit organization.
The Harambee Centre connects people of the Pacific Northwest with the people and cultures of Africa through multicultural education and intercultural exchanges. "Harambee" means "let's pull together" in Kiswahili. Topanien owner Nadine Lefkowitz will be on hand to instruct and provide information about the work done by the organization. "We do this benefit each year because the work they do is so important. I strongly believe in their mission to promote tolerance and diversity and educate our community on African culture." Topanien Gifts is located in Multnomah Village in South West Portland. Their street address is 832 SW Capitol Highway. For more information, contact (503)244-9683.
