FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 02, 2008 -
Reston, Virginia/USA –Tigerlily Foundation (Tigerlily), a non-profit breast cancer foundation is excited to be working with AETEA, an IT Consulting Services company to help women affected by breast cancer.

In early November, AETEA Account Manager, Elizabeth Jenkins and Vice President, Wendy Caputo Pizza, reached out to Tigerlily Foundation to see how they could volunteer their time and services to the organization.  A plan was quickly formulated.  First, the company would work with Tigerlily Foundation and its partner, Let’s Dish! to make meals for families with young mothers who were going through treatment for breast cancer.  Second, AETEA wanted to also buy Christmas presents for the women and their families, and third, AETEA wanted to donate proceeds from its December job placements to Tigerlily Foundation to assist other women affected by breast cancer.

On November 24, just days before Thanksgiving, AETEA employees from its Columbia, Maryland office went to a Let’s Dish location to make the meals for the families and then hand delivered the food to the women at home.  One of the women “was so thankful, I was overcome with emotion by how kind these people were, to make all this food and then bring it to my door.”  The other family “didn’t know what to say. They brought so much food; I won’t have to cook for weeks.  This was such a big help and very much needed.”

Tigerlily Foundation’s founder, Maimah Karmo stated that she was “extremely excited about working with AETEA to help women going through treatment for breast cancer.  Just two years ago, I was one of those women, going through chemo and needing help.  It can be very demanding for the woman who is ill and her family to have to prepare meals every day.  Women are often very exhausted from treatment; having a healthy meal already prepared is one less thing to do.  This way, the woman can focus on her treatment and recovery and less on the worries of everyday tasks, like cooking.” In addition, Ms. Karmo remains “very thankful to AETEA for its support.  I also hope that more organizations see the great value in this – making meals for women undergoing treatment is an excellent way to help the community, make life better for someone affected by breast cancer and have a team building activity.
