Quinlivan kicks a goal for local footy club

Dec. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- Surfers Paradise Football Club on the Gold Coast has entered a new era, thanks to the generous support of its patron Dudley Quinlivan.

A $45,000 donation package provided by Dudley Qunlivan has allowed the Demons to secure critical player facilities and pursue the development of the sport here on the Gold Coast.

Club president Alastair Mitchell said Dudley Quinlivan’s donation has allowed the club to field around 300 players, including juniors, senior’s men and women and an Old Boys team.

“The money will be used to add to our existing facilities,” he said.

“It will include volunteer officials’ skills training and sporting activities at our local schools.” Mr Mitchell confirmed the support of Dudley Quinlivan should also see a significant lift in involvement by the local community.”

The Surfers Paradise Football Club, known as the Demons, is deeply involved in the local community through its efforts to promote the code, and encourage our youth to pursue a healthy lifestyle, personal development and teamwork.

Dudley Quinlivan, whose two grandsons have both been involved in the club as players and supporters, is delighted to help such a worthy cause.

“Seeing young people who are fit and healthy and playing sport at this level is gratifying to me,” Mr Quinlivan said. He added that being able to support the code of Australian Rules Football is a genuine pleasure and he hopes that more local businesses will get behind local sporting clubs.

The Surfers Paradise Football Club is located at Sir Bruce Small Park at Benowa.
