New Doors Open for US Exports to the UAE and Middle East

The US Export Council has signed an agreement with Dubai based Tejari, the leading online B2B marketplace for global emerging markets, opening the way for cost effective entry by any US Manufacturers to the Middle East Export markets.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 29, 2008 -
“This agreement facilitates access to the successful Tejari online trading platform for US companies and those in the Middle East, providing US Companies with practical and cost effective access to the Tejari online trading community, which is today the largest and most established buyer network in the UAE and the Middle East,” said David Altman, Executive Director at the US Export Council in New York.

“The agreement between Tejari and the US Export Council represents a powerful new opportunity to connect US companies, especially the 250,000 small and medium sized US Manufacturers to Tejari and generate export sales across the Middle East and the UAE, where Tejari has the largest online buyer network.” added, Mr. Altman

Tejari is a classic example of the innovative sprit of Dubai. The company, launched by the Government of Dubai, is one of the most successful units of Dubai World, a holding company responsible for much of the emirate’s phenomenal economic growth. The online trading portal will facilitate further trade between the US and the largest buyer network in the Middle East.

One of the key components of the agreement between Tejari and the US Export Council is the development of an online trading community; an e-Exhibition private-label community, for US companies, expected to be online in early 2009.

“This element also provides in-advance business matchmaking for all of the US Companies attending the Connect - CEO Forum in Dubai on March 17th 2009” said James Magee, Organizer of the Forum in Dubai.

US companies can upload their company profile on the portal, showcase and exhibit their products, issue promotional trade leads and above all, have access to a trading floor where they can interact with potential buyers or sellers across the Middle East 24x7.

The UAE is the largest U.S. export market in the Middle East and a key source of investment in the U.S.

Many U.S. firms have a presence in the UAE. The UAE has generated most of its oil revenues from sales to Asia, then invested most of its profits in the U.S. economy. In 2007, this resulted in the country importing $11.7 billion in goods and services from the United States; in 2008, it also made a series of sizable foreign direct investments in the United States.

These and other factors add up to excellent sales opportunities for U.S. companies. Here is a brief look at some of the best prospects, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.
