Children Are 'never Too Young' To Ski

Children are old enough to hit the slopes from the moment they can walk and play, it has been claimed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 27, 2008 -
Speaking recently, Colin Iseard, director of coaching at Snowtrax ski centre, Christchurch, said that from the age of three, children are old enough to play on skis and begin informal lessons.

Although children's bones are still developing at that age, they are unlikely to sustain any injuries due to their low weight and low centre of gravity, he told the Guardian.

However, he said it was vital for parents to ensure their children are properly kitted out.

"With very young children it is important to remember that, because of their small body mass, they can suffer severe heat loss, over heating and dehydration very quickly, much quicker than an adult. So make sure they wear sufficient layers and have lots of fluids before their lesson," he explained.

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, some of the world's most family friendly destinations for cheap ski breaks include Vaujany in France and Les Gets, which forms part of the Porte de Soleil area.
