Down the Memory Lane Graduation Day Tea Party BITS Pilani Rajasthan

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 26, 2008 – Many of Today’s leaders in various spheres of society came from BITS Pilani yesterday and many of tomorrow’s leaders will continue to come from BITS Pilani today.

Years back they chose the road to excellence by taking admission at Birla Institute of Technology and Science which is one among the top ranking universities in India today. In some corner of the Pilani campus, the Uriah Heep song - There I was on a July morning – must have been playing.

After hogging the campus headlines for years, week to week, day to day, hour to hour as the Rock Legend Jim Morrison would have sung, students of BITS Pilani reach the Break on Through to the Other Side day which is the graduating students farewell tea party organized by BITS Alumni Association – BITSAA.

BITSAA organizes this event two times in a year due to many factors which include flexibilities unique to BITS Pilani such as second semester admission, dual degree, transfer etc apart from the fact of Practice School which ensures that one half of the final year students of the Institute are in Industry working on live projects.

November 22, 2008 was the chosen date for the latest farewell party and the venue the lush green lawns of the VFAST Hostel. At 5.30 PM, VFAST was steaming with graduating boys mostly dressed in their formal attire and the girls in their best costumes.

Graduating students Arjun Kamath and Divya anchored the proceedings and there was no doubt that the stay at Pilani had transformed Divya from a shying girl to a bold lady as well as Arjun the lad who held to his dad at the time of admissions to a dada and darling among his batch mates. Professor R K Mittal President BITSAA and Deputy Director Administration in his calm tone welcomed the gathering and gave the kick start to the party.

Vice Chancellor Prof LK Maheshwari highlighted the role of alumni in Institution building exercise and urged the graduating students to prove their best in their chosen careers. This was followed by several senior officers who addressed the gathering. From the graduating students who else but Ramya and Abhishek Nirmal Humbad who is already a CEO of his company NextGen PMS Pvt Ltd shared their cherished memories.

Following the customary vote of thanks by Vice President BITSAA Prof BR Natarajan, the party time started with passions peaking, emotions erupting, 1000 watt smiles on faces, cameras flashing all over like choreography of lightning in the sky, happy huggings, patching up misunderstandings, latching up new understandings and of course having a go at the specially designed menu with aroma all over for the occasion.

The graduating students slowly started stepping out from the farewell venue remembering that BITS Pilani’s broad based interdisciplinary education strong in fundamentals and rich in analytical tools coupled with the learning power unleashed by Practice School had empowered them to realize their self potential to be dreamers, performers and achievers. Undoubtedly each one of them is bound to climb more and more peaks in the times to come and as Proud to be BITSians be flag bearers for Brand BITS Pilani.
