Nov 26, 2008 – Steve Elias MD FACS FACPh, Director of The Centers for Vein Disease at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, NJ and Mount Sinai Hospital, NY has been named by Vein Magazine as one of the 25 most influential professionals in vein care worldwide. Voting was amongst physicians nationally and internationally who also care for patients with vein disease. Dr. Elias developed the concept of a dedicated Center for Vein Disease at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in 2001 and was named Director at Mount Sinai in 2007. The Centers are nationally recognized for teaching advanced minimally invasive vein care. Dr. Elias also inaugurated the Fellows Course in Venous Disease in 2004, which specifically educates young graduating vascular surgeons in the management of vein disease. He is known internationally as a champion of venous education.
The Vein Magazine article quotes one of Dr. Elias’s colleagues as saying, “Elias has an amazing passion for education. He has inspired me to advance my craft and never stop trying to do my best.” Dr. Elias is also the Chairman of the Preceptor ship Committee for The American College of Phlebology which directs and coordinates post-graduate vein education for practicing physicians. About Dr. Steve Elias MD FACS
Steve Elias is the Director of The Centers for Vein Disease both at Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Medical Center and at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey. He lectures, publishes, and teaches extensively about minimally invasive vein care and procedures. As Course Director of the Annual Vascular Fellows Course in Venous Disease, he trains young vascular surgeons in the treatment of vein problems. His clinical interests encompass all aspects of vein care: spider veins, varicose veins, perforator and deep venous incompetence, and venous ulcers. He performs all minimally invasive vein procedures and his work at the Center for Vein Disease includes the prevention and treatment of deep venous thrombosis. Dr. Elias is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon and member of the American Venous Forum, the American College of Phlebology, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and the International Society of Cardiovascular Surgery. He is a recipient of the Dardik Research and Education Award.
