After rigorous testing, the International non-profit organization NSF has certified Vital Oxide as an approved disinfectant to be used on food contact surfaces. Vital Oxide is an EPA registered disinfectant that kills over 99% of bacteria including Salmonella.
"NSF International helps protect you by certifying products and writing standards for food, water and consumer goods. As an independent not-for-profit organization, our ongoing public health commitment is to encourage everyone to live safer", says the NSF website.
The NSF registration program is a continuation to the product approval program of the USDA, which is based on meeting regulatory requirements of the FDA.
NSF certifies that, "This product (Vital Oxide) is acceptable for use as a sanitizer on all surfaces not requiring a rinse in and around food processing areas."
As a broad spectrum disinfectant approved by the EPA, the new NSF certification allows Vital Technologies Inc. to revise label claims on Vital Oxide to include food contact surface use as a sanitizer. In lieu of recent Salmonella outbreaks throughout the United States and other parts of the world, Vital Oxide can be used to combat Salmonella outbreaks in the future and help prevent the spread of bacteria-borne disease.
