Cultural diversity, global economic woes, wars, ecological conservation and social prejudice are concerns shared by all countries. To compound world events, recent events on Wall Street created a domino affect in the global financial markets, which required the U.S. government to intervene with a $700 Billion bail out package. The immediate result is U.S. consumers cutting back on spending for the upcoming holidays. Despite the economic uncertainty, Liberata Dance Theatre provides a calming perspective with its productions that provide an inexpensive opportunity for everyone to enjoy dance and theater.
Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Myrena Sint-Jago says "I use my passion for dance and the spoken word to present works that affect all of us. Our performances transcend this at the social, environmental and global levels. Liberata performances are presented in the hope of people becoming more conscious and coming together to create a healthier world for all of us."
"During April 2008 Liberata Dance Theatre (LDT) participated in Immigrant Heritage Week and performed “Papieamentu”

Myrena Sint Jago and Samuel Sherrod founded Liberata Dance Theatre in memory of Myrena’s late mother whose second name is Liberata. She was born on August 17, exactly two hundred years after the biggest slave rebellion in Curaçao. She passed one day before the leaders of that rebellion were forced to the spirit world. "Liberata"
