PRLog (Press Release) –
Nov 20, 2008 – According to the Humane Society there are 74.8 million owned dogs and 88.3 million owned cats in the United States with most households containing two or more pets.
On average, one out of every three pets will become lost in their lifetime. Ninety percent of pets lost never return home. Four million pets are euthanized each year because the owner was not found in time.
Petz Galaxy is launching an Add Z Campaign to encourage pet owners to take precautions for their pet’s safety. Not everyone is willing to approach a strange dog nor are they willing to report it to the pound. If they are willing to approach, they look for tags first. Most people will keep the pet and try to find the owner by ads or flyers.
Tags generally have enough space for just a name and number. Americans often change cell phone numbers or relocate making the tag obsolete. It is important to have up to date information available for your pets at all times.
Taking the pet to the vet or shelter to scan for chips is usually a last option. People may call to see which dogs have been reported found. Or they may even be willing to look for a no kill shelter.
Add Z is being launched by Petz Galaxy to inform the general public that any pet found with an ID number beginning with the letter Z needs to search for the pet’s information on Petz Galaxy.net homepage.
Add Z also wishes to encourage pet owners to register in order to store their additional pet information online. Additional information includes email, breed and an emergency contact number.
As part of Add Z register my pet will be available Nov 22nd through Nov. 25th beginning at one dollar and increasing at one dollar per day until returning to five dollars. A donation from all proceeds is made to shelters during the holiday season.
If you have a pet for adoption or offer pet services you are welcome to post at Petz Galaxy’s free forum.
And remember use to use a leash when walking your pet.
