The Hotel Galvez, A Wyndham® Historic Hotel, is offering a Thanksgiving Getaway Package to include overnight accommodations for one or two nights, the hotel’s popular Thanksgiving Day Brunch and tickets to Moody Gardens Festival of Lights.
During the holiday season, Moody Gardens is transformed for its Festival of Lights with dozens of holiday scenes for guests to enjoy as they wander through a spectacular lighted display with music playing throughout as well as the occasional live performer. The Hotel Galvez Thanksgiving Getaway package begins at $279 inclusive of tax for a one-night stay on Wednesday or Thursday night or $449 inclusive for a two-night stay, based on double occupancy and subject to availability.
The Hotel Galvez is known for its long-standing Sunday Brunch and Executive Chef Jerry Helminski is pleased to offer traditional Thanksgiving favorites as well as its popular extensive brunch menu. Complimentary champagne and mimosas are included.
On Friday, Nov. 28, the Hotel Galvez is the site of the City of Galveston’s Official Tree Lighting Holiday Event from 6 to 8 pm. This holiday event will feature a special visit by Santa Claus, holiday entertainment and a holiday greeting by Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas. On Saturday, Nov. 29, visitors interested in helping Galveston in its recovery from Hurricane Ike can volunteer for the Great Galveston Garbage Gobble hosted by the City of Galveston, Clean Galveston, AmeriCorps, Impact and Help4Galveston. Visitors to Galveston can currently visit the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa docked at Pier 21, Bishop’s Palace, 1402 Broadway, and Moody Mansion and Museum, 2618 Broadway. Various restaurants along the beachfront are now open for business. Moody Gardens Golf Course, Galveston’s new premier public course, is also open for business.
The Hotel Galvez was built as a symbol of Galveston’s resilience following the Great Storm of 1900 and following Hurricane Ike reopened to the public on Oct. 15. The hotel sustained minimal damage from Hurricane Ike.
