Canadian Educator MICHAEL ERNEST SWEET Honoured for Founding Non-Profit

Windsor Nova Scotia native and now resident of Montreal, Canadian educator Michael Ernest Sweet inducted into National Teachers Hall of Fame - Wall of Fame - and the International Who's Who as one of public education's top 1000.

PRLog (Press Release)Nov 17, 2008 – Canadian public educator and writer Michael Ernest Sweet has been honoured by the National Teachers Hall of Fame in the United States on their Wall of Fame for founding the non-profit Learning for a Cause.

Learning for a Cause is a non-profit public school initiative which publishes and promotes the socio-political writing of high school students from all over North America. By way of creative writing students are able to gain authentic voices in the social discourse - they are able to inspire their readers toward positive social change. The project compiles annual anthologies complete with celebrity guest writers and then releases them internationally.

The 2009 Learning for a Cause publication is titled "Raising Humanity" and will feature an in-depth exploration into what it is to be human. Guest writer Emmy award-winning actor Martin Sheen will write the foreword and Canada's first astronaut Marc Garneau will pen the introduction. The book is set for release in late spring.

Michael Ernest Sweet has also recently been honoured by the prestigious International Who's Who publication which included him as one of education's top 1000 in the world. Other recent recognition includes appointment to Canada's Commission for UNESCO.

Michael Sweet has been called a "visionary teacher" by CTV news and is regularly featured on TV & radio as well as in print media for his pioneering teaching methods.
