Essex cleaning company director Laura Carey has launched a crusade to encourage people to see cleaning as a career of choice with recognised qualifications rather than just a job.

Laura, who herself is qualified to NVQ standard and certified to train cleaning staff to meet strict standards, runs First Class Cleaning and Maintenance Limited (http://www.essexcleaningservice.co.uk), an environmentally friendly cleaning company offering services throughout Essex and London. The company is currently working towards being an accredited training and assessment unit for cleaning. All of Laura’s staff are fully trained and qualified in cleaning science.

“NVQ cleaners trained to hospital standards.”

Laura says, “People think, wrongly, that there is not much to cleaning other than dusting and vacuuming and wonder what on earth is involved in achieving a cleaning qualification. If they were to see the curriculum they would be shocked! By studying a cleaning NVQ, staff become trained to hospital cleanliness standards. They learn about the science behind cleaning; they study the best methods to promote health and hygiene in the home and what is more, they learn about commitment to quality and meeting certain standards.”

Laura feels that anyone who employs a cleaner should raise their expectations and start to be a little more discerning when taking someone on. “You wouldn’t employ an untrained, unqualified plumber to repair your boiler would you? Neither would you allow an unqualified nursery nurse to take care of your child. So why let someone without the proper training behind them clean your house?” says Laura.

“Professional cleaners make a clean living space a healthy, hygienic living space.”

Laura maintains that the difference between a home cleaned by a professional and one cleaned by someone with no formal training or qualifications is considerable saying, “It’s so easy to tell the difference. When what you learn on the NVQ course is put into practice, a clean living space becomes a healthy, hygienic living space with minimal allergens and longer-lasting furnishings.”

First Class Cleaning & Maintenance Limited is a Romford-based green cleaning company offering domestic and commercial cleaning services throughout Essex. They are the fastest growing cleaning company in Essex and have been trading for almost five years.

Laura Carey has a solid background in health and hygiene having been an NVQ-qualified nursery nurse before starting her cleaning company. Her ambition on this crusade is to make the cleaning profession more highly perceived by encouraging customers to choose qualified cleaning professionals which she believes will be highly beneficial to health and environmental issues on a large scale.
