Nov 16, 2008 – Thoel : eme (pronounced:
thole - e.m.e) will hold their debut performance at the Fantastic Voyagers Festival II in Pittsburgh on Sunday November 23, 2008. Thoel : eme is a project by Pennsylvania natives Joel Grimes and Thomas Watkiss. The group formed in the summer of 2005 with the intention to create an experimental studio project that combines minimal rock guitar, field recordings and effects to create a sound that serves the indigenous Appalachian environment as well as post-industrial society.
Thoel : eme was founded in 2005 after the two creators decided to meet and record their improvisations annually in a Southwestern Pennsylvania studio referred to as "The Barn." Watkiss would take the material back to his studio in Stockholm and the two would build a narrative online around the music from Grimes' written narration and Watkiss' visual layout.
After nearly a two year Hiatus as Grimes pursued his full-time band "Allies" and Watkiss developed and released his double LP concept record "Ancestor- Phase I : Silence", the two are building energy for the first show and preparing to record a 10”/CD single slated for release in Summer 2009.
