Karate World to Hold Food Drive for Community FoodBank
NEW PROVIDENCE – Karate World will be holding a food drive for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. The Martial Arts academy will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable items through Friday, December 12th at their location in the Village Shopping Center.
The combination of an unstable economy, layoffs, and rising food prices has left many families struggling to put food on the table. For more than 25 years the FoodBank has provided hope and support for hungry families in the state. But with food donations down and demand up more than 30 percent, the FoodBank is struggling to meet the need.
To help the FoodBank in this time of need, Karate World will be accepting food donations to help replace the bank’s depleted stock during the holidays. Please note, no monetary donations to the FoodBank will be accepted.
To show their appreciation for supporting the food drive, Karate World owners Rich and Michelle Brugger will provide all interested donors with 2 weeks of complimentary martial arts or adult kickboxing instruction and a free uniform. According to the husband and wife team, "It is our great privilege to help out the FoodBank in their time of need and we would like to show our appreciation to all those individuals and families helping out our cause by offering them a complimentary membership to our Academy."
Karate World of New Providence expects to receive donations from many of the neighboring towns including Summit NJ, Berkeley Heights NJ, Chatham NJ, and Murray Hill NJ.
Karate World is located in the Village Shopping Center, 1260 Springfield Ave., New Providence. Donations will be accepted at Karate World of New Providence Monday through Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please contact Karate World with any questions at (908) 464 – 2836.
