Our ailing economy will make it even tougher for some New Yorkers to provide gifts for their children this holiday season. In a city teeming with musicians and nightlife, local singer/songwriter Jennifer Logue has come up with a festive way to give back without breaking the bank.
In conjunction with New York Cares, she's performing a special holiday concert with a "Kris Kringle" cover charge. Instead of shelling out cash at the door, attendees can opt to bring a unwrapped gift for the Winter Wishes Toy Drive, which helps fulfill the wishes of 31,000 disadvantaged New Yorkers.
"With our economy the way it is, it's more important than ever to give back to the community. There are so many families who are struggling to provide gifts for their kids this year," says Jennifer. "It doesn't take much to make a difference. If enough artists go the "Kris Kringle" cover charge route, we could spread a lot of holiday cheer. It's in the giving not the receiving that makes this season so special."
Jennifer Logue will be putting the "Kris Kringle" cover into effect at her 12/12 show at NUBLU, located at 62 Avenue C. She'll be opening for Norah Jones' former band, Wax Poetic, so this is definitely not a show to miss! Doors open @ 8:45pm with Jennifer performing from 9 until 11pm. If you don't have time to get a gift- don't fret. You can still pay $5 at the door for the Toy Drive.
