Earls Court, London – Wetamarine UK Ltd and UKSA will promote a new sailing course geared to making sailing more accessible at the Sail, Power and Watersports show – 26th to 30th Nov. The course utilizes the New Zealand developed Weta 4.4 trimaran, launched in the UK in January this year and described by US boat of the year judge, Meade Gougeon, as ‘one of the fastest 14 foot boats on the planet’. It combines the latest technology and materials to provide a light, stable platform, simple controls and safety features which takes as little as a day to learn to sail.
One or two day sailing courses based at UKSA in Cowes, Isle of Wight, are available from £140 and can be tailored to suit any level of prior experience, ages 5 to 75. Vouchers for courses and gift cards will be available for purchase from the Wetamarine stand at the show, in time for Christmas, or from www.wetamarine.co.uk . Enquiries from those with disabilities are also welcomed with further specific information available from the RYA Sailability stand at Earls Court or from the Weta Class Association – www.wetamarine.org.uk.
The Weta 4.4 is now distributed worldwide and its following is growing rapidly. It was developed with the ambition of attracting a wider cross section of society into sailing both as a sport and sustainable leisure pursuit through appealing to the demands of today’s lifestyles. It has contemporary, high performance looks with plenty of carbon, bold colour options and high tech parts. To minimize hassle, it packs down quickly and neatly for storage, rigs in 20 minutes and is light to handle or tow with a small car. Versatility is then designed in through the stability of its rigid and broad beam, unusual nimbleness and sail and crew configuration options - enabling it to be enjoyed both as a racer or relaxed family coastal cruiser.
Wetamarine UK Ltd is based in Surrey and was appointed in 2007 by Wetamarine www.wetamarine.com as sole distributor for the Weta 4.4 in UK and Eire. The Wetamarine team are dedicated to enabling performance sailing to be enjoyed by the widest possible audience through the Weta 4.4 and support the establishment of a range of socially inclusive Weta 4.4 class events worldwide.
