Nov. 13, 2008 - PRLog -- TotalRecyclingWebsite.com is the third in a series of websites that provides visitors with concrete ways to help our planet. Wise use of natural resources and pollution are covered in the first two websites. The latest website covers recycling.
Although recycling has been promoted heavily in the news in the last decade, recycling is not new and has been used for centuries.  Recycling has only become more frequent in the news media as more and more people are becoming aware of the  serious environmental issues facing our planet.
Recycling is one of the easiest ways to "do the right thing.  It often requires little changes in our lifestyles to make a difference.  Until people understand how important is for our planet, they will not be willing to make those necessary changes.

Recycling is important  for the simple reason that it helps eliminate waste which is having a negative effect on our natural environment.  The amount of pollutants being released into the air is less. Harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses are released by trash and rubbish, and neither of them are good for the environment. The production of new products by manufacturers is very energy intensive.  It is much less costly to use recycled products.  Less raw material is used, and in turn helps the rainforests. Deforestation and its habitat destruction is causing global warming.  Recycling can help.
Recycling  also keeps chemicals and other harmful substances from leaching into our groundwater supply.
One of the sad things I read is that from space, one can see the Great Wall of China and also the Staten Island landfill, the landfill that services the New York City area.  Recycling helps eliminate the need to use expansive tracts of land for waste storage. People must understand that the money saved by recycling can be substantial, and the cost to  dispose of waste that is not recycled is also substantial.  It is far better to recycle trash and waste and  turn it into useful products then pay to have the trash and waste removed. It's a no brainer.

Recycling is also helping us to use our natural resources wisely and have enough left for generations to come.

Guidelines are available on the website on topics such as auto, computer, glass, paper, water and electronics recycling. Composting, ecology, waste management, and ecosystems are also covered.  Video's, podcasts, current news and timely articles are available. There should be no reason why people can't recycle.  A  full report, "Everything You Wanted to Know About Recycling, But Never Dared to Ask,  should open everyone's eyes to the need for recycling.
