Dé Avery La Monte Priest Announces the Publication of His First Book

Nov. 13, 2008 - PRLog -- In spite of Dé Avery La Monte Priest’s appetite for old world aesthetics, his first book, “Salt of the Dancer: Selected Verse” is, in effect, a collection of modern American poetry complete with seven original black and white photographs. The book’s first nineteen compositions explore Love, Death, Heartbreak, and the Divine. Brimming with lush imagery, they exhibit a writing style lyrical and darkly romantic. The result is a marriage of gross opulence and cruelty.

The book’s anchor composition is a sprawling thirty-four page piece entitled, “Serenade 4 Angels”, a semi-biographical and lyrical reverie of the poet’s own triumphs, tragedies, and relationships with various American mythologies serving as mercurial backdrop.

The message of this little book of poems is humanistic. Mightily, it articulates Man’s heartbreak not as consequence of a trespass committed eons ago but as a quintessential passion inherit in the species; the stuff of heroes and the forge from which legends arise tempered, steadfast, and strong.

Dé Avery La Monte Priest, author of “Salt of the Dancer: Selected Verse” was born, raised, and educated in rural Northeast Ohio. Presently, he lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife, Persephone.
