W.O.A International signs on ‘Best International World Male Artist’

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 12, 2008 – Goa, India –W.O.A International was primarily started as a world music label which diversified and today has over 150 artists from genres as diverse as World, Jazz, Rock, Fusion, Metal, Reggae and even Irish Gypsy Jazz. Today we are proud to announce that we have signed on one of World music’s biggest names ‘Michael Sparkey Drakes’ to our current roster of music stars.  
   
“It’s probably a return to our first love – World Music,” says Alan Alvares, V.P. Events and A&R Director, “signing on Michael Sparkey was a no brainer as his music speaks volumes about his dedication to his art and how far he will go”.

Fans will tell you that he has a voice that is distinctive and resonates with energy, which is evident in his dancehall and ragga soca tracks.  Born in Guyana, South America he started singing in his church where he could be heard on any given Sunday thrilling the congregation with his heavy baritone voice. Sparkey has also written “Want Me Body” for Pat Raguette of the Virgin Islands, which went on to become a mega hit. The singer also toured with Atlantic Recording artist Kevin Lyttle. In October 2007 “Sparkey & Friends Back 2 Basics” was nominated for three awards by Toronto Exclusive Magazine where he was awarded “Best International World Male Artist” and “Best International World CD Album”. “I am now charting my own course on the world stage with my brand of music” says Michael.

This blend of music could possibly be the biggest thing to hit India in 2009 when the artist is expected to be on tour in India with W.O.A Events. With the support system offered to all artists on the W.O.A Roster including the highly sought after music marketing services, Michael Sparkey Drakes is well on his way in creating a phenomenon with his blend of World Music.
