SAN MATEO, Calif. – A local senior home-care company honored social workers and health care professionals for their tireless work on behalf of Bay Area seniors by donating $10,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California on Oct. 23 at the historic Sixteen Mile House in Millbrae.
During the “Grand Giveback” dinner and celebration, Martie Cruz, owner of Home Instead Senior Care of San Mateo, selected the names of 10 attendees at random. A $1,000 donation to the Northern California Alzheimer’s Association was made on behalf of:
Jeri Hawk – Silverado Senior Living
Pete Porter - In the Moment
Carol Bullock - Cashin Company
Teddy Heinrich – German Club
Christina Price - San Mateo Convalescent Hospital
Kaye Sharbrough – Senior Seasons
Elizabeth Greene - Elder Law Attorney
Tony Morin - John Hancock
Michelle Colombo - San Mateo Convalescent Hospital
Patricia Player Maxwell - Maxwell Home Care Services
The donation is part of the “Grand Giveback” campaign recently launched by Cruz to contribute to and honor community programs that enrich the lives of a grand generation. The Magnolia of Millbrae premier senior living facility partnered with Cruz for the event.
“We are so proud to work alongside these organizations in providing quality care for area seniors,” said Cruz. “They all contribute in unique ways to the health and well-being of older adults.”
The keynote speaker was Dr. Elizabeth Edgerly, clinical psychologist and chief program officer for the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California.
The donation was made possible, in-part, through the Home Instead Senior Care Founders Award given to Cruz in April by the corporate office in Omaha, Neb., for her outstanding business achievements.
“We’re grateful for our success and know we could not touch the lives of so many seniors without the help of these organizations,”
The San Mateo Home Instead Senior Care office is one of more than 800 independently owned and operated franchises worldwide that provides companionship and non-medical home care services for aging adults, helping them maintain their independence by assisting them with activities of daily living wherever they may call home.
