Nov. 11, 2008 - PRLog -- The Air Force has awarded The Design Knowledge Company (TDKC) a five-year, $4.9M Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III contract to research and develop innovative solutions for trusted, layered sensing.  This new contract called “Argumentation-based Approaches to Enhance Dynamic Time Critical Decision-Making (ADTD)” will result in a continued broadening of TDKC’s support to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Under this new program, TDKC will perform a wide range of hardware and software research, prototyping, and technology assessment. This award is a follow on to the previous work TDKC performed under a two-year, Phase II program.

Under this program, the Air Force is seeking new and innovative ways to support, augment, and exploit complex and widely-distributed networks of sensors. Mr. Eric Loomis, TDKC Vice President, stated that “being awarded a Phase III SBIR program affirms the need, application, and acceptance of TDKC’s research and decision support products to date.”  “This award also underscores the ability of TDKC’s Coherent Multi-Dimensional Perception of Situation and Environment (COMPOSE) technology to support emerging Air Force needs”, stated Mr. Loomis.

This new contract award will result in TDKC adding staff at its headquarters location in Fairborn, Ohio.  TDKC recently doubled the size of its offices to accommodate the growth from this and other DOD contracts. Dr. Jim McCracken, TDKC VP/Founder/Chief Scientist added, “With all the growth we were getting cramped in our current facilities.” “Doubling our office and laboratory space gives us the needed expansion capability to continue providing quality service to our customers.”

TDKC is a leading provider of innovative hardware and software solutions that capture, analyze, and present information to decision makers.  Its customers include the Department of Defense, prime contractors, and many commercial firms.  For additional information, visit http://www.tdkc.com.
