Basically, an “empty leg” is that portion of an air ambulance flight where there is no patient onboard. This normally occurs when LGII is flying to pick up a patient at another location or returning to Clark County after dropping a patient off.
For example, if LGII was transporting a patient from Las Vegas, Nevada to Houston, Texas, their ‘empty leg’ would be from Houston, Texas (or in the vicinity) back to the west coast area.
The more flexible a patient is in regards to the date they need to travel, the greater the chances are to fill an “empty leg”.
LGII is a LICENSED Las Vegas Fixed Wing Air Ambulance that meets and exceeds patient care and safety standards. Although LGII specializes in regional air ambulance transports, its area of operation is worldwide.
LGII performs Emergency and Non-Emergency Air Medical Transport Services 24/7 to all acuity of patients, from the very basic to the very critical. Standard medical crew is comprised of a Flight RN (Emergency Medical Service certified by the Nursing Board) and a Flight PM.
In addition, LGII provides a full complement of medical equipment to monitor and support patient's life functions; provides ACLS medications and various controlled substances for patient care and comfort.
LGII is proud to offer this reduced cost service for all their patients!!
