Collingswood, NJ – Tuscan Sun Kitchens, an NKBA-member firm, is pleased to announce that one of its premier cabinet lines, Wellborn Forest, has been awarded Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP) certification. “Our customers are demanding products that are both environmentally friendly and more healthful for their homes”, says Russell Tuckerman, owner, Tuscan Sun Kitchens. “Wellborn Forest cabinets offer a green solution while maintaining the high quality and affordable price that are so important in today’s marketplace”
The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA), a non-profit trade organization that supports the cabinet and related industries, created the Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP) to promote the use of environmentally sound business practices. From forestry resource management, improved manufacturing processes, and a reduced use of toxic materials, ESP certification requires that manufacturers meet rigorous standards. Lower formaldehyde emissions, use of recycled materials, and certification of hardwoods through an independent forestry program are some of the new requirements which manufacturers must meet in order to obtain certification.
The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) actively promotes green building practices and products. The association recently announced its position while outlining some of the steps it is taking to lead the industry in this area.
