Classic Artists Today©, a weekly syndicated radio show, is celebrating their second anniversary during November. The specialty show that features “The Best Songs Today…From Yesterday’s Top Artists,” is currently broadcast 16 times per week by Affiliates in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Music played covers the rock, pop and soul genres.
"Our show has really grown throughout the two years we've been on the air," states R.K. White, the managing director of Classic Artists Today©. "Listeners are really amazed that many of their favorite bands and performers are still releasing new music," White added.
A two-part anniversary special will air starting on November 10th and running through November 23rd. The first part of the special will feature interviews and new songs from Tony Stevens (Savoy Brown and Foghat) now with Tony Stevens’ SLOWRiDE, Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna) now with Moonalice, Bobby Kimball of Toto, and Jim Kale and Garry Peterson of The Guess Who. This special will also feature the award-winning “One To Remember” segment that takes a look back at the life and music of Levi Stubbs who was an original member of The Four Tops.
Part two of the anniversary special will run the week of November 17th and features interviews and new songs from Leon Medica of Louisiana’s LeRoux, Eddie Money, Narada Michael Walden of Temple of Soul, Chuck Negron formerly with Three Dog Night and Mickey Thomas (Elvin Bishop Group and Jefferson Starship) now with Starship.
Rock and Roll legend Edgar Winter said, " I think it's great that you're playing the new music of the classic rock artists because that's one of the things that there's little opportunity in the radio world for people to hear"
Classic Artists Today©, also know as The CAT, first aired in November of 2006 on WYOU/WRRW-FM 100.9 in Williamsburg, Virginia. The show is targeted to men and women in the 25-54 age group. An aggressive marketing program will take place in 2009 adding new Affiliates and increasing sponsor support.
John McClung, program director at WRRW-FM, indicates, "The CAT is one of our most listened to shows. The show has an excellent balance of new music, interviews, and classic cuts."
