Roswell, Georgia residents, photographer, Dan Carmody and hair stylist, Kara Faester, have teamed up to shoot and style photographic portrait sessions for women 40 and over who are looking for something more interesting than the standard “glamour shot” just in time for the holidays.
The name “Red Couch” comes from the iconic red couch used in many of the duo’s photo shoots symbolizing their unique take on portrait photography.
“Women over 40 today are fabulous. We have experience and comfort in our own skin that we didn’t have when we were 25. Women are looking for the opportunity to see that beautiful confidence captured on film” says Kara Faester, age 42, owner of Anam Kara Salon in Roswell and the creator of the Red Couch concept. About the experience, Tammy Hansen, age 41, mother of two and working mom says, “Dan and Kara created a wonderful photographic experience in a comfortable, non intimidating environment. It was exactly what I hoped for…and then some. ”
Elegant composition, lighting and modern styling that captures a woman’s inner and outer beauty, is where Dan and Kara excel. Their keen attention to style and detail are resulting in unique photographic imagery that women are thrilled with. Kara and Dan closely collaborate with their clients to create portraits that showcase each particular woman’s personality and mood.
Regarding his photography, Dan Carmody explains “For me it’s all about the eyes and the connection I have with the clients I’m photographing. My camera is a powerful medium of expression and communication. Nothing is more moving than capturing human emotion …whether it’s a twinkle in the eye or a wholesome, sexy glance.”
According to Kara Faester, “Red Couch photos are a testimony to women over 40 and all they have accomplished. Once they relax behind the camera you can see it – that inner glow and radiance.” Dan Carmody adds, “For one moment – you are the center of attention – it’s about you and the confidence you’ve earned”.
A Red Couch photo session includes hair and makeup, wine and cheese, and an extensive hour and half photo shoot utilizing color and black and white photography. Kara Faester personally styles and art directs each photo session to help bring out the radiance in each woman.
