Relay For Life
DETROIT, MI– Detroit is ready to Relay! The event will again be held on the campus of Marygrove College Saturday, June 20 – Sunday, June 21, 2009. All local churches, businesses, organizations, friends and family, schools and survivors are being invited to join the fight by forming a team, joining the planning committee, being a corporate sponsor, or participant in this year’s event.
“Relay is such a unique event. As the Society's signature event, Relay has been bringing cancer survivors and anyone touched by the disease together for 25 years. It is held overnight in honor of the fact that cancer never sleeps. African Americans have the highest mortality rate of all cancers! So this is something our community can do to combat this,” said Chiara C. Clayton, community representative, American Cancer Society.
For those wanting to know how to be apart of this year’s Detroit Relay, please come to the Relay Open House which will be held at the Northwest Activities Center on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 6:00pm-7:30pm.
