The Riverdale (NY) YM-YWHA and Riverdale Rising Stars announce production of RENT, SCHOOL EDITION

Nov. 5, 2008 - PRLog -- It is with great pride that the Riverdale (NY) YM-YWHA and the Riverdale Rising Stars
announce their production of RENT, SCHOOL EDITION!

The Riverdale Rising Stars are one of the first teen theater groups in the country to perform
this newly-released version of the incredibly popular musical, which recently closed after
many years entertaining audiences on Broadway. The Rising Stars were granted special
rights; as the first licensing applications were being granted to high schools only. With a cast of 30 talented teens, the Rising Stars have a remarkable opportunity to challenge
themselves with material of range and depth far beyond their years. They have been
assisted in this process by the gifted production team which includes Remy Kurs as Musical Director and former Rising Star, Emily Walton, as choreographer.

During the remaining weeks of RENT rehearsal, the cast will have the honor of working with David Truskinoff, the last Musical Director of the Broadway production, who will be holding a special workshop, they will meet with representatives from BroadwayCares, Equity Fights Aids to learn more about the impact of this disease and they will sponsor a Peasant Feast, which was a tradition of the writer (Jonathan Larson) in an effort to bring people from all backgrounds together; which he did with his young cast in the early stages of the workshops of RENT.

Show dates are:
Saturdays, December 6, 13 & 20 at 8PM
Sundays, December 7, 14 & 21 at 7:30PM
Sunday, December 14 at 3:00PM
Thursday, December 11 at 7:30PM

Ticket Prices are:
$18 and $12 (student/senior) if purchased online
$20 and $14 (student/senior) if purchased at the door.

Group sales are available. Groups of 10 or more: $10 per ticket. Please arrange group
