Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, Slash and Peter Green were all honoured at the Classic Rock awards 2008 in London on Monday evening.
Rock's top stars gathered at the Park Lane Hotel to watch as the biggest names in rock music scooped their accolades but, behind the scenes the award winners were also contributing to a very worthy charitable cause.
Ozzy, Jeff, Slash and Peter were amongst the many stars who autographed some very distinctive loudspeakers – a pair of bespoke airbrushed Platinum PL300s donated by leading loudspeaker manufacturer, Monitor Audio.
During the evening, the custom built speakers were autographed by over 20 rock gods including Ronnie Wood, Colin Blunstone, Mani, David Coverdale, Bobby Gillespie and Jack Bruce making them a truly extraordinary and individual piece of rock memorabilia.
The bespoke PL300 loudspeakers will be auctioned at a special Classic Rock event with all the proceeds going to children's charity Childline. Last year, over 500,000 children called the 24-hour helpline that is devoted to helping those in distress or danger.
Michael Johnson, Marketing Manager at Monitor Audio says, "The event was incredible and we are especially pleased that some of the evening's big winners took the time out to help us all try and raise a great deal of money for a very worthwhile charity."
