It’s a wrap. Mom knows best when
it comes to baby’s comfort
Keeping the chill away from your little angel just got a little more eco-friendly and a lot healthier thanks to Shi Shu Baby handwoven baby blankets and snugglers.
The blankets and snugglers, made with 60% cotton and 40% bamboo, are the result of a mompreneur’s painful lesson. When Tamre Sutphen’s son was born, family and friends gifted her with several cozy, fluffy blankets made with microfiber/polyester.
“Unfortunately, my son’s favorite blanket caused him to break out in a rash,” Sutphen said.
That’s when she set out to design a natural alternative blanket – one that breathes. Her research directed her to bamboo which by its nature is also antibacterial. Her travels led her to India, where the blankets are handwoven and trimmed with bamboo sateen, especially for tiny fingers to touch.
The baby blankets measure 30 by 40 inches, enough to wrap baby up against winter’s chill or spread out on the floor for playtime. They come in blue, pink, lemon and celedon.
The Snuggler is 16 by 16 inches, just enough to make baby feel secure for any adventure or errand.
Sutphen was so taken with the softness of her blankets for little ones that she designed a bigger throw – 50 by 60 inches – for the home – Shi Shu Home. It’s the same deal – 60% cotton; 40% bamboo with a stylish fringe trim. They’re unique enough to be included in the gift bags at the Golden Globe Awards.
