Davies describes poetry as having to do with relationships “with others and with myself.” Speaking of relationships, he says, “I live alone, talk to my personal assistant, a few other veterans, and precious few friends. Otherwise, I am good natured, outgoing and pleasant to be around.”
Davies says poetry, and literature in general, may be the only saving grace we have against this ridiculous “bottom-line culture.” Our relationship to money should not be the only, nor the most significant, relationship we cultivate.
On a brighter side, he has “a daughter who is thirty and very much her own woman. I love her more than life.”
