November 3, 2008/Bellevue, Nebraska: Remembering those who paid the ultimate price is the goal of Nebraska’s 9th Annual Veterans Day Parade to be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 in Olde Towne Bellevue.
This year’s theme is Honoring Duty & Sacrifice. “Since the time our nation was founded more than 200 years ago, thousands of Americans have given their lives to protect our freedom, said Carol Blood, Parade Chairwoman. “Our servicemen and women have fought for these freedoms and continue to protect these rights for all Americans.”
In place of the usual grand marshal will be a riderless horse. The symbol of the riderless horse is a way we an honor these heroic men and women with one of our nation’s most time-honored traditions-the caparisoned horse.
“Honoring the fallen and the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our nation is a noble and worthy cause, says Carol Blood. “It is our hope that families from across Nebraska join us in this tribute.”
The Bellevue Veteran’s Day Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. with an official Air Force Fly-Over to mark its start. Pre-parade entertainment will be at 9:30 a.m. in the reviewing stand area.
