“Several years ago, I went through a very difficult period in my life, as many people are now.” said McCrudden. “In addition to creating Motivate America and National Motivation & Inspiration Day, I wanted to create an event that honored some of those folks that helped me through my difficult time, but to also honor motivational, inspirational and patriotic leaders in America that are doing things that inspire and motivate Americans through difficult and good times.” he continued.
This year, McCrudden’s company, Motivate America will hold The Second Annual American Motivation Awards honoring The Military and Military Families as 2008 People of the Year, as well as, Personal Development Legend Zig Ziglar for Lifetime Achievement, George Martin, the ex-NY Football Giant star that walked across America to raise awareness and funds for the First Responders of 9 / 11 and Randy Pausch, the inspirational author of The Last Lecture, who traveled across America and was on the morning TV circuit speaking about how to live, while he himself was diagnosed and dying of Pancreatic Cancer. Professor Pausch unfortunately lost his battle with cancer in July. There will also be many other inspirational honorees and recipients.
“When you think of “motivational speakers” or “personal development”
The 2008 American Motivation Awards will also be honoring George Martin the ex-NY Football Giant with The 2008 Motivational Story of the Year. Mr. Martin set out from the George Washington Bridge and walked across America all the way to San Diego ! It was a 9 month, 3,003 mile journey across America to raise awareness and funds for medical attention for the First Responders for 9 /11. Hence the title of the organization, a Journey for 9 / 11. Mr. Martin and the organization were able to raise over $2 million dollars for medical treatment for first responders.
“I don’t think people can understand the actual accomplishment of walking 3,000 miles. I know people that are winded walking up a flight of stairs !” says McCrudden. “To do what George did for others and to use his name and visibility to help the folks that didn’t ask any questions and just responded when America needed them most on 9 / 11 is a heroic and inspiring act of leadership and strength. That’s only one of the many reasons we are honoring George Martin.” States McCrudden.
The 2008 American Motivation Awards will be held on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th in New York City at The Manhattan Center in mid town Manhattan on 34th street.. The award recipients are an impressive list of nationally recognizable names, as well as local names. You can go to the web site for tickets and more information:
