Laguna Hills, CA – Stampington & Company’s premier photo-journalism publication, Life Images, has recently received two prestigious honors – being named one of the Hottest Launches of 2008 by Min Magazine and Mr. Magazine (magazine expert Dr. Samir Husni) and a bronze Gold Ink award for excellence in printed media.
Called “the country’s leading magazine expert” by Forbes ASAP magazine, Dr. Husni has been deeply involved in the magazine industry for over 20 years. He is the author of the annual Samir Husni’s Guide to New Magazines, currently in its 22nd year, and is the editor of The Future of Magazines. When selecting his annual list of hottest launches, Dr. Husni considers numerous factors, including ability to generate publicity, relevancy to the intended market, diversified and specialized nature, and innovativeness. Life Images, launched on January 1, 2008, puts a unique spin on the art of photography by showcasing bold, full-page images alongside thought-provoking quotes, poetry and journaling that give readers a glimpse behind the lens.
This year’s Gold Ink Award winners were chosen from nearly 1,500 entries submitted across all categories. Winning pieces surpassed their competitors based on print quality, technical difficulty and overall visual effect. Stampington & Company received a bronze award in the “Consumer Magazines” category, in conjunction with Quebecor World Midland printing company, for the production of Life Images Winter 2008 (released on January 1, 2008). Somerset Studio May/June 2007 and Somerset Digital Studio Volume 1 (released on March 1, 2008) both received pewter awards in the same category. The May/June 2007 issue of Somerset Studio also received a silver award from the IAPHC, The Graphic Professionals Resource Network, through their 33rd International Gallery competition late last year.
